Fifteen year old Peter Stewart lives with his mother and grandfather in a coastal Georgia town during the mid 1800's. He has always dreamed of becoming a fisherman like his father was. Peter grew up believing his father was lost at sea twelve years earlier. After building a fishing boat with his grandfather, Peter learns that his father died while trying to find treasure on a mysterious island in what is now known as the Bermuda Triangle.
While on his deathbed, Peter's grandfather has him promise to find the treasure sometime in his life. Peter embarks on the dangerous journey to Island Unknown with his dog, Captain. Peter must withstand the ridicule of the town bully, Leech Myers, and battle a hurricane while sailing to find the treasure of the mysterious Island Unknown. Will Peter meet the same fate as his father?
Island Unknown is a classic story that readers age nine and up will enjoy
"I highly recommend this book for children ages 8 through 12 who are imaginative, have a zest for adventure, and can handle some of the unfortunate realities of life. The book had an auspicious ending that left my niece asking many more wonder-filled questions. I can hardly wait to read Island Unknown's sequel with her."

This story was bought to read to my seven year old grandson. It is a very sweet story of a bygone age when young boys became men way too young. I highly recommend this book! Great read, sweet story.
